Attracting the Right Stuff

Yesterday we talked about putting down the books and learning to trust ourselves for the answers.  The question becomes “How do I get the new ideas that I need to continue on my path?”  Not surprisingly, the answer is the same – trust yourself.  Today we look at how to attract the right stuff.

The law of attraction

In the last few years there has been a lot of discussion about the law of attraction.  This discussion has taken place both within and without the “spiritual community”.  I have quietly objected to the use of the law of attraction to “manifest” money and objects which “prove” that we are spiritual – and that the law of attraction actually works.

Let me tell you how I use the law of attraction.

Yesterday I mentioned that I do not read many “spiritual” books.  My concentration is on learning to trust and understand the answers that I find within me.  However, that does not mean that I eschew all book, meetings, or presentations.  I wait to have them drawn to me.

My concentration on my path can get so intense that a book or a subject that could help me might just slip by me.  To prevent this I have set up a draw or an attraction.  That draw will pull things to me that might help me – but it filters out things that will not help me advance at this moment.

How the attraction works

For example, about a year ago I started hearing about Eckhart Tolle and Oprah Winfrey.  Of course I had heard about Oprah, but had not paid much attention to her.  I had also heard about Eckhart Tolle but had never purchased any of his books.

What my draw was bringing to me was information about a series of conversations between Oprah, Eckhart, and their viewers.  These conversations were to be broadcast on the web, both live and as podcasts.  This felt like something that I needed to pay attention to.

To make a long story short – I found this series of presentations to be one of the most valuable experiences that I had had in many years.  The strong emphasis that Eckhart Tolle placed on being in the moment was reminiscent of many of the things that I had been taught many years ago.  This series of conversations helped me to get back to the basics of remembering how to stay in the moment.

Trusting myself

The bottom line, once again, is learning to trust yourself.  I have setup an attraction that will bring to me information that I need and will help me on my path.  It will go literally years without bringing to me one book.  It will bring me other things, but not usually a book.  Even in the case of Eckhart Tolle and Oprah – I never bought the book.  The nearly twenty hours of conversations were all that I needed in the way of assistance.

When you set up your draw or attraction, you may set it up to bring you books.  You may set it up to bring you lectures and presentations.  It will be what you need for you – at this moment.

Set up your attraction.  Trust yourself that you have set it up properly.  Trust yourself that you will know when the draw is bringing you something you need to know about.  When the draw is not bringing you anything – continue to look within, rather than without, for the answers.  You will be amazed at the power you will find inside of you.

Until tomorrow –
